APERITIVO
2009
Proposal for a system to serve Peroni Beer and Aperitivo foods in a resolved and elegant manner. The project was a collaboration between Alessi and Peroni. The design ambition was to create a system that would improve social navigation while providing a platform for positive brand presence.

Like an illuminated taxi sign, light indicates availability. The Aperitivo Tray, when placed over the central light, indicates that a table is occupied and the holes in the bottom of the tray allow the light source to illuminate the bottles or glasses creating a soft light, as an alternative to a candle.

How should Aperitivo be served?
"The best thing is to promote the sociability and this conviviality of aperitivo. A large plate with all the different choices, that is the best way." __ Giorgio Locatelli
The Aperitivo Tray is designed to be easily carried with either one or both hands.

Tray - The tray is stamped from sheet Stainless Steel. The holes beneath the bottles allow them to be illuminated by the light source below. This presents them in their most positive aspect, as under-lighting beer bottles is a proven technique used by photographers to heighten the beauty of the bottle.

Table top - The table top is an opaque material that limits the light spillage from the rotomoulded light source.

Rotomolded light table - A translucent Polyethylene rotationally moulded volume that houses a cool light source (LED or Energy Saving Fluorescent). Alternatively, for low volume/prototype production this component could be produced by means of vacuum forming.

The trays are stackable and can also be used with glasses rather than bottles if preferred.
